I have not long been home from clinic 2 of "A Horsemanship Journey to Harmony" and again an amazing group of horses who shared their wisdom with such an awesome bunch of ladies.

I am incredibly lucky to have had the absolute pleasure of coaching such a diverse group of horses and people over these clinics this year, the feelings of oneness, teamwork and the care that flowed through each and everyone was so inspiring, and I am in awe of each one of you.
Thank you for sharing this part of your journey with me 💚

Had an amazing time and took so much more in this time as I was more in tune and relaxed! I think FATE made me take a very green horse (when I got home My mare was galloping around and perfectly sound 😊)which meant I got to refine my ground work and was introduced to the next step I can take with my horses!! Have not laughed so much 🤣🤣 thank you ladies for your company and sharing our learning journey together! Thank you Lynely for another fantastic clinic and given me so much more understanding, your energy is amazing!!!

This was the most wonderful clinic!! I have come home feeling so much more confident and have a way deeper connection to my horse than ever before. I really value your way of teaching Lynley and you have opened my eyes and mind to the 'small things' that are actually large. Thankyou so very much. I feel so grateful to have been part of such a wonderful weekend with a friendly and hilarious bunch of people. Looking forward to coming back sometime and learning more!! 🥰🥰

Oh my goodness we had fun!! And have gained a lot of valuable tools to apply to our training. Thank you so much lynley.

What an amazing clinic with lots of learning and laughter. Thank you so much Lynley and of course all you other ladies and the lovely horses. And I second Kelly, this must have been the best clinic I’ve been to.

It was so awesome to watch. What a fantastic group of humans & horses. Thanks for a great weekend Lynley

Holey hecka what a fantastic clinic Lynley! I would say this is the best one I have ever been to, and have done a few over the years. I love how you can coach anyone at any level and help with specific things even in a group environment. I haven't laughed so much in years! Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts, wisdom and partnership with your horses, it was AMAZING!! Pahiatua is such a great venue too. Looking forward to the next one.

Great clinic...fabulous group of people! I had a ball, Carolina had lots to say to me. I developed my feel, timing and fizzy bubbly aura and was so pleased that we laughed, breathed, ate and connected together as a group in many different and fascinating ways! You would have been very proud of me girls, because today I developed my fizzy bubble-aura even more by helping Lisa with Glori. I acted as a “crush” on one side of her, whilst Lisa tended to her leg wound. Glori soon worked out that we meant business and stood quietly whilst she was tended to.

Im sure you will have as much fun & learning ad we did . Enjoy the journey

Well, here we have a few photos from a week ago, at Hawera for 2 days of lessons and a day of a Working Equitation workshop, then that night off to Horowhenua for a couple of days of lessons. Boy, do I feel grateful for the lovely people who allow me a window into their beautiful journeys with their Equine partners.
The fantastic variety of people and horses that gave us lessons in different levels of groundwork, In-Hand work, riding very green horses to higher schooled horses,. We learnt lessons in patience, variety, and about not looking for quick fixes but for long term wellness and life💚

KELLY'S PONDERING FROM THIS WEEKEND'S CAMP

In the past, I have been to clinics/instructors where they have recommended that you exaggerate to teach young/green horses new things. That hasn't always sat well with me and I had some clarity around this at Lynley's camp this weekend.

I have realized that during my journey with Honour and especially since starting her under saddle in February, I want to have a responsive, understanding "knowing", in-sync partnership with her, right from the beginning of her education as a ridden horse.

Horses are prey animals, sensitive on all levels. We can observe them with other horses and see how subtle their language with each other is, the tiniest flick of an ear, swish of the tail, a look. So I want to embrace this sensitivity in my "training" with my green horse. Understand and play with how subtle/refined my signals can be with my thought/intention/body. I want to be able to carry this right through our journey from a balanced walk on a 20m circle to Piaffe whether that be ridden, groundwork, liberty.......................whatever.

I don't want to be SHOUTING at my horse, exaggerating to teach her eg having arms out wide to teach steering as if riding a motorbike with ape handlebars, flapping legs, loud hands etc.

I want refinement, beauty, mutual respect and understanding, finesse, a deep connection, clarity.

It was so good this weekend to feel like we are making progress in this direction. I felt a deeper connection with her, trusting, understanding, some really nice moments of clear and subtle communication.

I am loving this exciting and deeply rewarding journey!

Thank you, Lynley, Bjorke, Juanita, Chris, Olivia, Lisa, Trish and Amelia for all being awesome! I learned so much from each of you and your beautiful horses.

Awww nice one Kelly... it has been fab watching you and Honour from pre riding to now and enjoying her flamboyance 🙂 gotta love mares ... its a growing stunning partnership... such a pleasure to start from the beginning and not inheriting other types of training... esp when you are guided and mentored from the start.... COOL !!!!

That is beautiful Kelly, you are such an inspiration. Awesome weekend with lovely people and horses.😊

It Was awesome spending time with all these people at this clinic! No matter what stage we are at with ourselves or our horse we learn so much from each other! 😊 Kelly has Summed up a lot of my thoughts and so great to finish on a high note to learn that I have found solutions to some of my problems! Great to expand on my knowledge in a very relaxing and happy atmosphere so thank you to you all!!😊😊

I would love to do one of Lynleys clinics one day, just a pity they are so far away. 🤔

Kelly Henry that is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. An amazing journey.

Relaxation! Tension!
How much Relaxation do we need and how much do our horses need?
How little Tension do we need and how little Tension do our horses need?
Can we have too much Relaxation or too little Tension?

A couple of questions to ponder when you are next in the company of your horses.
Many questions can be added about Relaxation and Tension, but I won't get too deep to start with.

I am presently working with my recently acquired filly on Relaxation, she is a very high energy, and her proprioception is limiting, she has trouble keeping within her body's boundaries. So I walk with her and take notice of the signs she gives, we stop and I relax with her, then we move again. How we move and what we do is too in-depth to describe here, but the awareness that is growing between us is both encouraging and engaging.
Small incremental steps with consistency.

Small steps definitely the key for me, sometimes I put too much pressure on myself and therefore on my horse too.

I go so small I often go backwards and that’s a good thing 😉

Woo Hoo!! very first "Live Time Video Lesson". so much easier than expected, we had a fantastic camera-man, a very obliging horse and enthusiastic student. We had a little interference with the Bluetooth earbuds but that will get sorted for next time. Go the T team🦄 ... See MoreSee Less

Testimonial from Kelly Henry:
"I had a video lesson on Honour earlier this week and it was well worth it! Lynley gave great feedback, she talked over the video that I sent so I could see exactly what she was talking about. There's a great tool where Lynley can draw on the screen to show angles etc and can also do slow motion and go backwards! I got some written info on points to work on. I highly encourage anyone wanting to progress with their horse during this lockdown time, to get some video coaching. Thanks Lynley!"

Such a great service Lynley. Awesome.

I love the feel of Autumn, the warm days and cool evenings, the leaves starting to turn. Like most regions of our country, we desperately need rain, the ground is crisp and the dams are drying.
I have just had a great couple of weeks with students and their green horses, the smiles that light their faces when the first trot happens, the softness and understanding their horses offer, that is often beyond their expectations.
So now I am looking at my calendar and preparing clinics, workshops and camps for the months ahead.
