About Lynley

Lynley says

“Horses have been apart of my life as long as I can remember, many stories could be written about the lessons they have all given, and how each one has shaped who I am today. “

I am sure there are more lessons to come.  My Philosophy about horses is very important in my approach.

I believe that each horse comes into our life at the right time. We get what we need or maybe what we are ready for whether we think we are ready or not. I have always wondered why I have so many horses, why I seem to keep taking them home when I don’t need another horse in my herd. But the lessons they have taught, are allowing me to pass their wisdom, their teachings forward, and the lessons just keep on coming.

I have been working with animals since I was very young. Wild kittens were often part of our household. It didn’t seem to matter what animal, there was always enough room for just one more, and it seems that hasn’t changed through the years.  I have always been very shy, and never had much to say, though I may have found my voice.

I am always watching, learning, from the old masters, the fresh, clear thoughts, actions, and feelings of young children. Everyone has many things to teach or bring new awareness.

Lynley grew up in the King Country and as a farmer, has worked with horses and dogs all her life. Her vast practical experience, sound knowledge, and gentle approach allow her to guide people of all ages and abilities to develop strong and safe partnerships with their horses.

Over the years she has started and schooled many horses and dogs, some of them problematic with many issues. She’s gained great satisfaction and learning experiences in taking the time these animals need to bring them around to be valued and trusted members of her farming team.

It’s through these lifelong relationships with her horses, her passion and study of the Vaquero style hackamore have developed. She has over ten years of experience bringing along horses and ponies by using the softness of the hackamore,

Lynley gives lessons to a variety of regular students throughout New Zealand.  She enjoys identifying the strengths and weaknesses of existing partnerships and encouraging people to become aware of, and apply softness to develop a more conscious relationship (this from another person’s perspective from a couple of years ago).

Lynley says ” I am a student of Mastery, and always upskilling by participating in courses, clinics, online and in person, I also travel overseas for my ongoing education. However, my horses and students, are my greatest teachers”.
